Pedófilo - double meaning?
Would pedófilo mean a fan of farts as well as someone with an 'unhealthy' interest in children?
My point is, do you play with words in Spanish as you do in English?
Francophile would be someone who is into French stuff, you could also, playing with words, use it to mean a fan of Spanish dictators, a keen stamper or someone who had an affinity for people called Frank. Or, someone who took a no holds barred approach to their communication.
Elotroleonar seems to not have picked up on this, I don't know if someone 'in charge' wants to point out that bandying abuse is not acceptable within this community...

Wordplay is great. I get the whole "Francophile" example, and it would be fun do more of those. Unfortunately I think the point of your thread got lost due to the distracting nature of your pedofile example.

"Pedófilo" has no double meaning at all, means: That someone is attracted to children.

A risk in using the word 'never' is that a single example to the contrary proves the statement to be incorrect. One essentially sets oneself up for failure in taking such an extreme stance.
I'm not trying to translate a joke here, rather am inquiring as to whether it is usual for people to play with words in Spanish as many do in English. Punning is rife in English, I have no idea if this is the case in Spanish. My question here relate to whether people might make a pun of the 'pedo' part of pedófilo as one might the 'franco' part of the word francophile in English.
My experience in Colombia is that such wordplay is not common, then again, my understanding of the language is still lacking to the extent that I may well not be picking up on it if it does indeed exist.
Pedófilo is not defined in the Diccionario de la Real Academia Española. The word is pederasta or paidófilo, which describe someone who is attracted to children.
Yes, you have the idea, but why do you think you can separate the word?, I don't separate the words in English to know they're meanings, so the answer is, It doesn't have double meaning, it only means pedophile. 
To be taken as an insult, regardless. haha
