Help with translation "un guía" "una guía"

I have been given a list of words that are similar to each other in spanish but have totally different meanings in English to translate for homework. I am stumped with these two words : - un guía - una guía I don't know if it was a typo on my teachers behalf. The dictionary is not shining much light on the situation as it gives the same meaning for both the words. Any contributions are greatly appreciated. smile

the only difference i can detect is that "un guía" means a male guide, while "una guía" mean female guide. But if you look up the definition on this site for "guía" it shows that it can mean guide in both feminine and masculine forms, BUT in feminine form it can also mean 1) guidance, 2) guide(book), 3)handle bars, or 4)rail

Ah! That makes sense. The other meanings in the feminine forms are exactly what I am looking for. Thank you. Muchas Gracias :) - AeryFaery, Feb 9, 2011
