Question about got. Today I "got" the day off, IE it's icy so no one came in to eat at the restaurant (so no money to be made). Conseguir for got? Surely not. Probably just tener? Hoy tengo el día libre. Could I use tuve and have it make sense? Probably not huh....

Hoy me dieron el día libre.
If this happened suddenly, as in using "got" then you can say "Hoy de repente me dieron el día libre.
