I know that chula has many definitions, but someone told me that it can also mean girlfriend, is that true?

It's a pretty derogatory term for girlfriend. I guess you can use it but be prepared for your girl to but very unimpressed. oh oh

If you type the word into the Translate box at the top of the page you get:

  1. Woman from the back streets, low-class woman. (f)
  2. Loud wench, flashy female; brassy girl (charra). (f)
  3. girlfriend. (Ante Meridian & Latin American) (m)

I think if I were someone's girlfriend and he called me his chula I might let #'s 1 and 2 take over and beat the stew out of him.

Yes, it's rather vulgar. Mi advice is not to use it.

Calling people names that start with ch is fun. Try to learn all the ch names. I use them all the time. Chula, chatí, chata, chola, chuleta. Good stuff.

Edit: I use these all as joking terms. Of course it's not a real nice word, better than chola though I think. - jeezzle, Feb 9, 2011
