Confirming an appointment

Question

If I’m calling to confirm an appointment in Mexico, should I say this:

"I’m calling to confirm my appointment on march 7. I just want to make sure on the date."

"Estoy llamando para confirmar mi cita el 7 de marzo. Sólo quiero estar seguro en la fecha."

However, the second sentence isn´t really necessary but use it if you want.
