I'm sure that they tried to keep the pronunciation as close to the original name as possible. Where is the stress on the name in Romanian?

Because the accent is not on that syllable! Actually, according to my Collins dictionary, in English the accent is on the "rest" syllable, while other dictionaries say otherwise. I guess you'll never know, because English is random when it comes to spelling, unlike Spanish, where the stress is clearly indicated with accents. There are no accents, because the stress is on the last syllable, and according to the regular rules in Spanish, no accent should be used.

Probably the first syllable get a secondary stress, so it's not easy to tell whether the first or third syllable is getting the primary stress. They way I've heard it pronounced, the first and last syllables seem to get about equal stress.

In Bulgarian the accent is on the first syllable, so I guess this has misled me. Thank you both grin
