Okay, my assignment is to complete the sentences with the correct pronouns and forms of the verbs in parentheses

A mí __________ (encantar) las películas de misterio.

I put "me encanta" since encanta is the singular form of Ud/el/ella, which is what I thought is how it worked since it has "mí" which I took to make it first person. However, it takes the "me" but is marking "encanta" wrong. Is it suposed be "encantan"?

I am lost and could use some help.

The subject of the sentence is "las películas," a plural noun. Because the subject is plural, the verb "encantar" is also required to be conjugated to match the number of the noun.

I had been basing my original answer based on looking at "mí," but what you are saying is it should be based on the subject.

Yes. In this case both "mí" and "me" ("a mí" is actually just a restatement of the atonic pronoun "me") represent the indirect object of the verb or the person to or for whom movies hold such a charm or allure.

The answer is "me encantan", because the word "peliculas" is plural. If it is only one movie (una pelicula/ la pelicula/ la pelicula Titanic), then you use "me encanta".

I had been basing my original answer based on looking at "mí," but what you are saying is it should be based on the subject. I'm sure that is what my professor said, I guess maybe I should try and retain this more. Thank you very much.
