Occiso as a noun

Neither this site nor the RAE list a noun form of this word. "Murdered, killed". I think as a noun it might be "violent murder"? This book uses it as a noun: Era su primer occiso en el año que llevaba desde su regreso a Ayacucho.

It was his first murder in the year that passed since he returned to Ayacucho .

My Oxford says "murder victim", I haven't actually heard it used anywhere.
