Help with translation "One day, three princes got lost"

I have to write a fairy tale for homework. I would like to be able to say "One day, three princes got lost". I know how to say most of it bar the verb. So far I have : "Un día, tres príncipes _________". I am not sure what verb to use here. I have tried the dictionary and I don't trust the translator. Please help in any way possible.

I think "se perdieron" would work here.
