Pensarse with subjunctive

Pensarse with subjunctive

Hi guys,

I was told a while ago by some spanish speakers that the verb pensarse is often used to mean the equivalent of "I'm wondering..." - a fairly common construction in english. For instance, "Estoy pensandome si... " - "I'm wondering if..."

So, I got to thinking, would this require the subjunctive in the second clause? It seems like it would, because, well, you are wondering - ie not secure.

So for example, in english we would say "I'm wondering if you will be free tomorrow"

Would we use the subjunctive and say "Estoy pensandome si estes libre mañana", or the indicative and say "Estoy pensandome si estarás libre mañana"?

Thanks.

"Estoy pensando si estarás libre mañana" grin No precisa subjuntivo, se trata de una interrogativa indirecta, no más.

"Estoy pensando si estarás libre mañana" estarás - Futuro perfecto

"Pensándome" is something like: "I thinking about myself".

Indicative is used to inform about things that you think, guess, imagine, suppose, wonder...

Subjunctive is used in all other cases, so you should use indicative, in principle.
