To answer your subsequent question (which Heidita closed just as I was about to post my answer):
Imperfect Subjunctive Conjugations
To conjugate the imperfect subjunctive, take the third person plural preterite form of any regular, irregular, or stem-changing verb, drop the -RON ending to find the radical, and add the appropriate ending...(ra or se endings...see this) article.
Since Tener is irregular in the 3rd person, plural of the preterite past tense (tuvieron) it will also be irregular in the imperfect subjunctive tense.
All of the verbs that are irregular in the 3rd person, plural of the preterite will be irregular in the imperfect subjunctive.
Hello and welcome to the forum.
The question that you have asked is a bit broad. Would you mind being a bit more specific or perhaps provide some examples of what exactly is troubling you about this particular tense? That way an answer could be tailored to meet your specific needs in regards to this topic. Thanks. ![]()
Do you understand the past tense in the indicative mood?
Is your question really about when to used the indicative past tense or the subjunctive past tense?
