translation correction [el semáforo]?

translation correction [el semáforo]?

I think the English translation is incorrect since "traffic lights are" is in the plural form so should it not be: The traffic light is red! This is an example sentence on another site and I am recording it for practice and I want to make sure it is right.

¡Para! ¡El semáforo está en rojo!

Stop! The traffic lights are red!

Gracias!

I would not use lights in the plural. I would say the light is red (traffic is self understood).

I would say traffic light. Somebody might think you are talking about a street light, or a brake light, or some other light.
