"In time to eat (dinner)", translation variations.

Question

I wanted to translate "He returned to the house in time to eat." I didn't know how to go about it, so I wrote "Regresó a la casa con tiempo de comer." It didn't sound quite right, so I put it into the translator, and it seemed fine. However, I wanted to be sure, so I typed the english first and then translated it to the spanish, and it came out as "Regresó a la casa a tiempo para comer." My translation seems to imply he returned with time to eat, and the second, that he returned just in time to eat; but is mine right at all? Are they both right? (All I wanted to say was that he returned before supper was started.) I also didn't know whether to use "de" or "para" and both seemed to work in the translator. So, can anyone clarify this? Thanks.
