Can I say, "Eso estaba tan de cerca" or "Lo estaba tan de cerca" or something like that? Gracias. Close call, almost died etc....

Stop it! I need to go to sleep! 
The standard equivalent phrase is "eso estuvo demasiado cerca!", or some such, depending on context.
