if the person, that you are interested in, speaks your language, then it's OK, you will have much time to learn his/her language. Don't worry about mistakes, he/she will understand.

So, if there is any language, that you both can comunicate in, then there's no problem.

Both of these are great examples, however I'm not sure if I would ask someone out on a date or to be my boyfriend/girlfriend if I don't speak there language atleast in an advanced manner. Seen similar experiences, sometimes it works, but it's always kind of odd and arguements can spark from miscommunication.

I agree that some ability to speak the language is really necessary but an intermediate level could be suficcient if both are willing and able to learn the language of the other person :) - FELIZ77, Feb 3, 2011

There is a gustas, gustarías, tú form in our conjugator. Me gustarías. I would like you. Me gustas. I like you. Spanish has better ways to say that using constructions like caer bien. - 0074b507, Feb 4, 2011
