Literally, " bajar de peso" means to lose weight.

"Adelgazar" means to get thin, you can also thin paint.

"Generosa" means to be generous.

"Bondadosa" means to be kind.

"Bondorosa" has no meaning.

True, bondorosa has no meaning, but sounds good: could be a mix of generosa and bondadosa. - LuisCache, Feb 3, 2011

I agree with Luis:

"Bajar de peso" means to loose weight: i.e. you stand on a weight scale and you see a lower number, but it does not necessarily imply that you look any thinner, although if you have lost a lot of weight, chances are you look thinner. If you lose muscle (which is denser than fat) while keeping your volume, your weight goes down, but you look the same. You could even look fatter while losing weight.

"Adelgazar" means literally "to get thinner". Again, you could easily increase your weight due to extra muscle, while looking thinner, but if you look a lot thinner, chances are you've lost weight.

The first one is about your weight, not your look, while the second one is about looking thinner. Of course, in general both tend to go together.

Normalmente, al bajar de peso, adelgazas.

Pero podrías adelgazar, sin bajar de peso.

Cuando haces ejercicio regularmente, adelgazas, pero no necesariamente bajas de peso. ¿Por qué? Porque pierdes grasa, pero ganas masa muscular, que es más pesada.

Normally, when you lose weight, you get thin too.

But you could get thin without losing weight.

When you do excercise on a regular basis, you get thin, but not necesarily lose weight. Why? Because you lose fat, but gain muscule, which is heavier than fat.
