I'm trying to say 'Él [was signed] by [record company name] para su primer álbum...'

Él fué firmado por [record company name], although it's more common to say Él firmó con [...].

Fichar is very commonly used to mean to sign someone to a contract. Fichar is what the company does to me - they sign me (up). Firmar is what I do when I sign the contract.

I've only heard fichar when talking about soccer contracts but I don't see why not. - Dakie, Feb 3, 2011
- KevinB, Feb 3, 2011
