Gastar VS malgastar

If you mean, waste, you can use both right? Otherwise if you mean spend, only gastar? Gracias.

Bueno, allí no hace falta bajar y tampoco malgastaremos una bota. Gastar would work there too?

Well, we don't need to go down there, or waste a boot either. Gracias.

It's like 'spend' and 'misspend', I think - Goldie_Miel, Feb 3, 2011

"Gastar" is not always interchangeable with "malgastar".

  1. Gasté todo mi dinero en libros que me serán muy útiles.
  2. Malgasté todo mi dinero en libros inútiles.

Gastar means to spend money (on something).

Malgastar means "gastar" (to spend money) "mal" (bad)
