Keyboard and problems with accents.

Question

I have a packard bell netbook which I bought whilst living in Spain, however, I am a beginner spanish so I could not read the instructions fully. When I am on the internet I am able to form letters with accents, I hold dwn CTRL and ALT and then press the letter. However, when I do this on word it does not work. I have a spanish keyboard set. However, I do not have a numerical part of my keyboard so I am not able to follow instructions which suggest using that.
