Will a Spanish keyboard be plug and play?

Will a Spanish keyboard be plug and play?

I'm struggling with the typed parts of the lessons as I don't have a keyboard that can do the accents. If I buy a Spanish keyboard from ebay or somewhere will I be able to just plug it in and use it for my lessons and go back to my old one for everything else? (sorry if this seems a silly question but I'm not very computer savvy)

This is a difficult question to answer:

A standard keyboard is plug in play. One with a bunch of buttons for email and such is more like "plug and pray."

Not having a Spanish keyboard, I would not know if it would be plug and play. However, there is a cheaper alternative: you can change your keyboard layout and get a silicone cover to place on top of your current keyboard that has all of the Spanish "snake eye" smile u's and the like. They cost a few bucks and don't have the software drawbacks.

It's up to you to decide.

Keyboards are keyboards are keyboards. They all work the same way. You can perhaps save a couple of bucks if you just go a change your keyboard and language configurations, and set the keyboard to Spanish ISO. You may need to learn where the keys are, or write on them with tippex or some such, but you'd get all the accents easily enough.

Since the question about accents gets asked constantly, you may check this answer here that shows you how to do it.

If you buy a Spanish keyboard, you'll still have to change your language configuration. The nice thing about the Spanish keyboard is that you still get everything you need to type in English without having to change anything else!

Bear in mind that there is a huge difference between a Spanish keyboard (the piece of hardware) and a "keyboard layout" ( a software interpretation of the meaning of the key that yo press (irrespective of the "nationality" of your "physical" keyboard). Far and away the simplest and cheapest solution to your problem is a "keyboard remapping program/extension"). For step-by-step instructions, consult the links already provided.
