The Diversity of Spanish!!

Beside learning language, I am also really curious in their communication cultures. Can anyone tell me about the differences between Spanish language spoken in the Kingdom of Spain and in the other countries on the continental of America, such as the diversity of words, speaking manners and so on. And can spanish speaking people from those countries understand each others???
