Sano vs Saludable
I was just having a look at the word of the day 'saludable' and was wondering if 'sano' and 'saludable' are always interchangeable or if there are some instances where 'sano' would need to be used?
I was under the impression, I'm not sure why, that you use sano for healthy as in - in good health when referring to people or animals.

And what thoughts do you have on the following statement that I found, is this true?
Sano es cualidad y estado temporal, admite el verbo ser y estar, mientras que saludable, es únicamente una cualidad y a mi entender solo admite el verbo ser .

It looks like the experts agree. English makes a distinction between usage for healthful and healthy but Spanish does not.

I'd use them as synonimous:
saludable.
1 adj. Que sirve para conservar o restablecer la salud corporal.
2 adj. De buena salud, de aspecto sano.
sano, na.
1 adj. Que goza de perfecta salud. U. t. c. s.
3 adj. Que es bueno para la salud.

Hacer ejercicio es saludable (es bueno para la salud).
Hacer ejeercicio es sano (sirve para conservar o restablecer la salud).
Es una mujer sana (goza de perfecta salud).
Es una mujer saludable (de buena salud, de aspecto sano).
In these cases I'd use both indistintcly.
No other takers? Everyone would use them interchangeably?
