There are breaking news about protestants in Egypt. Some were killed and others wounded. A lot of foreigners have left the country. The rule of Mubarak (since 1981) is being challenged.

Inspired by Tunisian uprising, protests are also in many other Arab states, especially, Jordan, Yemen, Algeria. Some protesters set themselves on fire. The Jasmine revolution is said to be occurring in the Arab world.

Yeser007 told me that our good friend Lovely_lovely was from Egypt. And Broksa_De_Mar is another Egyptian. That's why I'm wondering about their life now.

Lovely had said that she was going to be travelling around a bit after finishing her exams. I feel certain lovely and her family will keep out of harms way. Broksa de Mar is from Eygpt as well.

Let's not be naive here. Mubarak is an archetypical CIA puppet. He has been used as a US buffer in the Middle East. He's out-lived his usefulness and so the US will dump him. This kind of thing has been going on since the CIA was founded. South America in particular was exploited in this way with puppet dictators being installed with American backing and military "consultation" Pinochet springs to mind.

Check out these rather significant images of Mubaraks' career. It is not simply coincidence that the images show him with American presidents. Sometimes a picture can speak a thousand words.

It is a real mess and I am afraid Obama is doing very little about it. If the Islam Brotherhood gets more power in Egypt it will be very bad.

It's not Obama's place to "do anything about it." The USA is not policeman of the world and the Egyptians seem to be handling it. After all, it's their country and they are creating major change in their government - more than we can do in the USA - 005faa61, Feb 1, 2011

I do hope she's okay. Last I heard the internet is shut down there so, if she is in Egypt, she may not be able to get online to even see SD, let alone respond.

I'll try to pray for all the Egyptians tonight. It's terrible to be under the tyrant for 30 years however to kill innocent people is horrible too. I guess external (American) force would only complicate the matters already complicated enough... Like in Czechoslovakia in 1968 when the Russians came... However in CS things were a bit different since it was a part of a greater group of states all under the same regime which isn't exactly the case with Egypt.(?) I've never been to Egypt but I'll try offering my school work in prayer for them this week, I think they need all the help possible now.

I would suggest you look at a map of the Middle East and then go to Wikipedia to see who the leaders are in the different countries and what their political systems are. - babs_irish, Mar 4, 2011
