Drop the pronouns, bung in a que and add the accents and it's poifect grin

Creí que hablabas inglés.

Although I'm sorry translates to lo siento, you don't use lo siento as we use I'm sorry in English, especially in British English where we apologise for almost everything. Lo siento is more empathetic, like I feel your pain. Perdón and disculpe are more oft used in Spanish.
