Children's books.

I have enrolled onto a Spanish course in Mallorca, where I am living. The teacher has suggested we borrow children's books from the library to gain more experience in reading spanish. Does anyone recommend any good childrens books? Or websites where it is free to read spanish books?

 Gracias

Are you just starting in Spanish? Are you talking about children's picture books or children's chapter books?

Depending on your level you might want to start out with short stories rather than juvenile chapter books. There are lots of stories, audio stories, and video short stories on this site And there are many sites similar to this one. Cody's Cuentos, Cuentos para Nños, et. al.

You can download free (you have to search for them) ebooks at sites like this one

Yeah just starting. So picture books with simple words and phrases to start off with! :-) - CTrainer, Jan 31, 2011

You can try to search for Cantas de hadas ( Fairy tales)

Toruga el tortuga - Dr Seuss

El principito

These are some which I've tried.

Hope this helps

I would bet if you asked one of the librarians in the Mallorca library, they would introduce you to what you are looking for. And they would be happy to help you.

Even if someone on this site recommended a good book, the Mallorca library might not carry it. Reading children's books is a great idea, I have done it myself. Good luck to you!
