Can anyone correct my homework?

I have one small excercise which I am not sure that I have gotten right.

The task reads: "Contesta a las preguntas y sustituye los objetos por pronombres."

My answers are marked in bold.

  1. ¿Quién os ha regalado estas flores? - Nos les hacemos regalado.
  2. ¿Dais propina al camarero? - Sí, me se la he dado.
  3. ¿Me has dicho la verdad? - Sí, te lo he dicho.
  4. ¿Vas a comprarle el anillo a Raquel? - No, no se lo voy a comprar/voy a comprarselo.
  5. ¿Puedes prestarme el diccionario? - Sí, te lo puede prestar/prestartelo.

It would be great if someone could point out mistakes and explain them. smile

Therese,: prestártelo y comprárselo are both "one word only",( for formatting reasons the "lo" appears written separately in my post) - cogumela, Jan 31, 2011

Hi, therese!

I've bolded the direct objects, note that they have to agree in gender and number.

las flores--> las

propina-->la

el anillo --> lo

etc.

The indirect objects are in cursive.

al camarero --> se

a nosotros--> nos

a ti --> te

You need to find the subjects of your answers, because they determine the verb conjugation.

¿Quién os ha regalado estas flores? - Nos las ha regalado él.

Subject of the answer: él, verb--> ha regalado

¿Dais propina al camarero? - Sí, me se la damos.

The subject is nosotros, then the verb must be conjugated--> damos.

¿Me has dicho la verdad? - Sí, te la he dicho.

Subject: yo, verb--> he dicho

¿Vas a comprarle el anillo a Raquel? - No, no se lo voy a comprar/ No, no voy a comprárse lo.

Subject: Yo, verb--> voy a comprar

¿Puedes prestarme el diccionario? - Sí*, te* lo puedo prestar / Sí, puedo prestárte lo.

The subject is yo, then the verb --> puedo prestar.

How do you translate "por" in the instructions? - 0074b507, Jan 31, 2011
Is the "a" necessary in Contesta "a" las preguntas? - 0074b507, Jan 31, 2011
I'd say "answer the following questions and replace the objects by pronouns" - cogumela, Jan 31, 2011
And the "a" is not necessary, but it's convenient. - cogumela, Jan 31, 2011

The instructions seem incorrect. It seems like it says "substitute objects for the pronouns" when you are doing just the opposite. I suppose por could mean "in exchange for".

¿Quién os ha regalado estas flores? - Nos les hacemos regalado.

Oops! It's answer the question; not re-write it. My error.

Who has given (gifted) you... Is your answer "we have given them to us"? That sounds strange. How about "Nos las hacen regalado". (They have given them to us. It could be he/she/ you have given... etc.)

¿Dais propina al camarero? - Sí, me se la he dado.

Dais is vosotros (you plural) so you must answer with "we". Do you all give...? Yes, we do.....

¿Me has dicho la verdad? - Sí, te lo he dicho.

You cannot use lo for la verdad.

¿Vas a comprarle el anillo a Raquel? - No, no se lo voy a comprar/voy a comprarselo.

no voy a comprárselo.

¿Puedes prestarme el diccionario? - Sí, te lo puede prestar/prestartelo.

Can you....? The answer must be Yes, I can....
