When to use the Indefinindo or imperfecto?

Hi I am not sure what tense to use in each of the following examples and if somebody could tell mne whch is appropriate that would be great. Thanks!
- Fui a visitar a Patricia al hospital pero en ese momento estuvo/estaba descansando. (I think I should use estuvo becase "en ese momento" gives a moment in time or date/fecha)
- estuvo/estaba viviendo unos mesas in Alemanie, pero no aprendío ni una palabra de alemán. (I think that I should use estuvo because unos mesas gives a duration)
- Llegué muy tarde al restaurante y mis amigos ya estuvieron/estaban tomando el café. (I think I should use estaban becuse it gives the situation a context)
- Me llamó por teléfono, pero no lo oí porque estuve/estaba escuchando música en mi cuarto. (I think I should use estaban)
