How do you say "we have been deceived with this word"? Can you and it makes sense? I think I just heard it this and the dictionary has deceived as an entry.

Hemos estado fallido? Is that right?

Yeah but I want to expland my vocubalary and get past the 10,000 word vocab like engañar etc.... - jeezzle, Jan 29, 2011
They used fallido in this show. - jeezzle, Jan 29, 2011
ok, then I did not understand the question? Sorry. Fallido: abortive, unsuccessful, fruitless; failing to develop completely. Can´t relate it to deceive. - mediterrunio, Jan 29, 2011

Fallido is an adjetive:

  • Intento fallido. -Juego fallido.-
  • Cita fallida. -Hemos estado fallando, gerund from the verb "fallar**.

So cita fallida is a failed date? - jeezzle, Jan 29, 2011
Yes it is. - Dakie, Jan 29, 2011
"gerundio" - not "gerund" - samdie, Jan 29, 2011
I checked twho dictionaries and they say "gerund" is ok.. .?¡?¿¿ - Dakie, Jan 29, 2011
Gerund is correct in English. However, ´fallando´ is a present participle in that sentence. - mediterrunio, Jan 29, 2011
Ok, I didn't make it agreeing with the sentence. - Dakie, Jan 29, 2011

Quedaría mejor: "Hemos sido engañados" - Cabeza_215, Jan 29, 2011
Yes I agree that is a better choice. Estoy de acuerdo. - kenwilliams, Jan 29, 2011
