Same pronunciation, but different stress. In "LLEgo", the syllable "lle" is pronounced with more strength and higher pitch, while in "lleGÓ" is the opposite.

llego - present form, 1st person

llegó - past form, 3rd person

Llego - you put stress on the first syllable 'LLEgo'

Llegó - stress on the last syllable 'lleGO'

Even though it is tiny, it is powerful. The accent mark, that is. It always means, pay attention, emphasize me when you speak!

Aunque es pequeño, es de gran importancia. El acento, lo que es. Siempre significa, ¡preste atención, déme el énfasis cuando tú hables!

Several years ago I had a Spanish coach from the Dominican Republic. He would get frustrated with Anglos that didn't stress syllables properly. His advice to me was, and I'll never forget it, "leave no doubt".
