La palabra "hedor" viene del latín "foetor". Muchas palabras que en latín tenían la letra efe cambiaron a hache, como farina -> harina. El término latino viene del verbo "foetere" (apestar), que en español moderno es "heder". También viene de ese verbo la palabra "fétido", que no cambió a hache, y "fetid" y "fetor" en inglés.
The word "hedor" comes from Latin "foetor". Many words that in Latin had the letter f changed to h, like farina -> harina. The Latin term comes from the verb "foetere (to stink), which in modern Spanish is "heder". Also from that verb, we have the word "fétido", which didn't change to h, and "fetid" and "fetor" in English.
