Esto is muy dificil, pero si Ud. puede tratar de leer una novela en inglés (un clásico es mejor) y use la diccionario mucho, lo pueda ser agradecido.

This is very difficult, but if you can try to read an English novel (a classic is best) and use the dictionary a lot, it can be rewarding.

And now someone will hopefully correct my tenuous Spanish.

Watch the speeches at the Parliament .

They talk slowly, clearly and fluently

Hablan despacio, con claridad y fluidez

Try to buy a TV series called "Fawlty Towers" with Spanish and English subtitles.

Watch it with Spanish subtitles then again with the English subtitles then again with no subtitles. (You may have to do this many times)

It is a famous English comedy series - you will enjoy it - there are 12 programs of 30 minutes each.

It even has a character called Manuel from Barcelona, who has problems speaking English.

You can get it from Amazon.com

Well, the ideal thing, in my opinion would be to be able to take the classes in middle school and high school that students have to take. It would help with grammar, tense and construction of sentences. I'm not sure if there are classes like that offered outside of the public school system. Some colleges may have something. Next to that, watching the news would help since they tend not to talk too quickly and they do speak properly-- or watching movies with the English subtitles. The most important thing is taking the time to practice and use it. Don't use Spanish just because you're with people who speak it-- if you do that, you'll never learn the English. It is really all about practice. Best of luck!
