Maybe it is a blessing
This is a surprise. Many have read my earlier post on this issue. Now I have a different perspective.
I did not use the translator this morning for my word of the day. I did not even use it to proof the text before posting. The result - I had a correct sentence! Not the best phrasing, but without terrible grammatical errors.
This has made me re-think my postition. It is time to "take the training wheels off the bike" and graduate to writing my own sentences. I can remember times when the translator actually led me off course. This way I will be correcting my own mistakes, not the mistakes created by the translator. I am here to learn Spanish. This is a step.
I am going to consider this a blessing.
This was intended to be an answer for the other thread, not an additonal thread. Sorry!

Good for you, Dogwood! It is a little scarey at first, but I think that it is really good for us to be doing our sentences this way. Congratulations on your good sentences today!
I agree, great for you Dogwood! It will increase your learning 10 fold!!
Just remember when you think you are a terrible writer, speaker, or reader...remember that I'm 10x worse. We're in this together.
