In my opinion

national language = idioma nacional

official language = idioma oficial

"National language" and "official language" are 2 different conceptions.

Sí, pero idioma nacional no se usa generalmente, aunque me queda clara la diferencia. - gone, Jan 26, 2011

I think national/official language of EEUU is English, arguably as all the official and government documents etc. are written in it. Why do you think otherwise? It's an interesting question for me... I guess there are many foreigners in US but most of them probably learn english, don't they?
