I have a question, is it correct to say: DE consecuencia or COMO consecuencia? I have been told it should always be COMO consecuencia, but I think I have heard both.

Thanks.

You are asking for the correct preposition

Alternatives:

En consecuencia meaning Therefore or Consequently.

Como consecuencia meaning As a result of.

I am not sure De consecuencia is used.

yep, preposition...I was at a loss for the word! Oh my! DE consecuencia I hear, or maybe I am getting this confused w/Italian. Thank you. - bellamora08, Jan 25, 2011
you are right, de consecuendia is not correct and unlikely to be heard except for one use. - mediterrunio, Jan 25, 2011
still not clear then, is it DE consecuencia or COMO consecuencia? Thanks - bellamora08, Jan 25, 2011

adding to Usarenzo´s right answer,

El accidente fue de consecuencias impensadas, for instance, is sometimes heard but´it´s awkward Spanish.

Excelent observation, mediterrunio, but the phrase is different. The plural (de consecuencias or had unforeseen consequences) makes a world of a difference in the meaning. - gone, Jan 25, 2011
