Australia Feliz día 26 de enero.
It is Australia day today , we have big celebrations all over the country and a day
when hoards of people go through their Naturalisation ceremonies , big parties ,
BBQs and relaxing at the beach , come and join us for the fun .
On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future.
Australia Day, 26 January, is the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet of 11 convict ships from Great Britain, and the raising of the Union Jack at Sydney Cove by its commander Captain Arthur Phillip, in 1788 (to read a comprehensive history of the evolution of Australia Day, click here).
Though 26 January marks this specific event, today Australia Day celebrations reflect contemporary Australia: our diverse society and landscape, our remarkable achievements and our bright future. It also is an opportunity to reflect on our nation's history, and to consider how we can make Australia an even better place in future.
Celebrations at the annual Australia Day Live concert in Canberra On Australia Day, over half of the nations population of 21 million attend either an organised community event, or get together with family and friends with the intention of celebrating our national day. Many more spend the public holiday relaxing with family and friends.
Yet Australia Day is much more than barbeques and fireworks. It is more than another public holiday. It is more than the pride and excitement of new citizens who call themselves Australian for the first time on 26 January after being conferred citizenship.
At its core, Australia Day is a day driven by communities, and the celebrations held in each town, suburb or city unified by the celebration of whats great about Australia and being Australian are the foundation of its ongoing success.

Australia has played an important role in the development of Asia-Pacific region and the world. It is a member of the Pacific Islands Forum (P I F), a founding member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (A P E C), the East Asia Summit, the Indian Ocean Rim-Association for Regional Cooperation (I O R- A R C), etc. The development of Australia is good for all countries in the region and in the world. Hopefully, Australia with the lead of its government will continue to develop and support the cooperation, development, and peace in the world.
Australian ex-PM Kevin Rudd called for the creation of an "Asia-Pacific Union" which will consolidate the friendship and the cooperation between the countries and territories in the region.

Victorian damage bill to hit $2bn Darren Gray and David Rood January 26, 2011
A COMPREHENSIVE audit of the damage inflicted by the Victorian floods on agriculture is revealing a picture of extraordinary losses of crops, livestock and infrastructure on farms in the state's north.
Early estimates from the Department of Primary Industries suggest the total economic cost to agriculture from the murky floodwaters could be $1.5 billion to $2 billion. This includes lost crops and pasture, stock losses and lost or damaged fences, machinery sheds and other infrastructure.
With 1330 landholders surveyed so far by the DPI, the losses stand at almost 2000 kilometres of fences, 83,000 tonnes of hay and silage, 51,700 hectares of pasture and 41,200 hectares of field crops such as wheat and barley.

Confirmed stock losses for sheep are 6106 reported dead and 1822 missing or injured, with more than 100 cattle killed.
But the devastating toll from flood-hit farms is certain to rise as the audit continues. The DPI is expected to survey more than 3000 landholders on their losses.
"These floods have directly affected a third of the state and have had a devastating impact on scores of farm enterprises,'' said Victorian Agriculture Minister Peter Walsh. "Food and fibre producers face a massive task as they begin to clean up. We will continue to work to ensure they are supported through this disaster.''
Mr Walsh said the impact of the floods on livestock had been terrible. He also confirmed that the state government would fund the cost of transporting donated fodder.
Banjo Patterson, the DPI's natural disasters and emergencies manager, said two depots had been set up for donated fodder but more could be established. "Early indications are that the need for emergency fodder supplies is not as high as that required in the wake of the 2009 bushfires. However, it could be vital for a number of livestock producers," he said.
Yesterday 70 Defence Force personnel were deployed to Swan Hill and surrounding areas to help decide on recovery needs and the potential building of temporary infrastructure.
Visiting flood-hit Newbridge and Serpentine, Premier Ted Baillieu said damage assessments from November's floods had only just been finished and similar work for the latest floods would take months. ''We are going to have to start again and put together a detailed assessment of infrastructure needs and the cost,'' he said.
Mr Baillieu said the issue of insurance coverage for flood victims needed to be discussed at a national level.
Meanwhile, police have warned they will fine anybody swimming or operating boats in floodwaters. Superintendent Jock Menzel said anybody not authorised to be in flood zones should avoid them.

The Australia national association football team thrashed Uzbekistan 6-0 at Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar today. The socceroos will play Japan in the last match. The rivalry between Australia and Japan is a great match of Asian soccer. Two teams have played each other in many important matches since World Cup 2006.
The Australia women's team is the defending champion of Asia now. It will be a great success of Australian soccer if the Socceroos becomes the champion on Jan 29th, 2011. However, Japan is a power of Asian soccer; in addition, both Japanese men's and women's team won the gold medals of Asiad 2010 (though that was a tournament for Olympics players)
