Free beer!

The Sierra del Tigre brewery makes an American Pale Ale and an American Brown Ale of international standard - the first great ale to be commercially available in Colombia and better than much that can be bought in the pubs and bars of the UK and North America.

Specific questions:

Do you hacer beer or do I need another verb?

Do I need to say 'una rubia' or can I just use 'rubia'?

Do I need to say 'entre una roja y una negra' or can I simply say 'entre roja y negra' ? The context here is that beer, sadly, is know by its colour in Colombia

Is calidad better to use than estándar?

The beer in question is real ale, not lager, is cerveza autentica the best translation? Commercially available? Disponible comercialmente is all I can come up with, sounds a bit rubbish though...

I'm trying to get across 'better than many beers that you get in the UK and US', can I do this better than that which I've written?

Chars,

Alex

P.S. Free beer given at my discretion, collection only, Bogotá.

Loved your questions...

La cerveza usualmente se fabrica o manufactura.

Una rubia sounds better to me.

Entre una roja y una negra means between a red and a dark beer. Entre roja y negra means the same beer is in between red and dark in color.

Not sure about cerveza auténtica.

Disponible en el mercado.

PS .. I don't drink beer, but thanks for the offer anyway.

The beer in question is real ale, not lager, is cerveza autentica the best translation?

That distinction that English makes between "real beer" and other types like lager does not exist in other languages, where both are real beers -just different types. In fact, in Spain ales are seen as rather unusual types of beer that we generally can find only in special pubs with foreign brands. A lager is, by default, a beer.

Thanks Lazarus. Elaborar is the word I want, and indeed have heard in this context before. ¿Le parece bien 'La cerveceriá elabora', en lugar de hablar de la cerveza elaborandose? - afowen, Jan 24, 2011
Yeah, I wasn't happy with cerveza autentica as it could suggest that others are not authentic, it was suggested to me by a Spanish restaurateur. How about Cerveza de estílo inglés? - afowen, Jan 24, 2011
The difference between lagers and ales is one known to brewers, and many drinkers, worldwide. Calling one "real beer" is an opinion. - lorenzo9, Jan 24, 2011
It is actually called real ale, cerveza autentica intimates something different, which is why I wasn't happy with it. - afowen, Jan 24, 2011
