How can I say "more than I have ever seen"?

How can I say "more than I have ever seen"?

I was trying to translate a simple song from English to Spanish yesterday and I encountered a situation I could not handle (imagine that!).

The phrase in English

"Finding more power than I have ever seen" (expanded from contractions)

My first attempt in Spanish

"Encontrando más poder que había visto"

then I realized I did not know how to translate "I have ever seen" in this context. A Spanish friend provided the following that I do not understand.

"Encontrando más poder que el que había visto"

Then we briefly discussed the use of this tense for "ver", and I left unsure of it also. Is this a proper translation of the phrase? Thanks for your help!

No, your friend is wrong. the correct translation is:

Encontrar más poder del que haya visto

to translate finding correctly, you have to take into account the previous verse. But 99.9% chances is not Encontrando

And if it´s encontré, then maybe you have to change the subordinate sentence tense to más poder del que hubiera visto.

It would be like this : Encontrando más poder de lo que alguna vez he visto. Depends on the context.

Or also, "Finding more power than I have ever seen" "Encontrando más poder del que nunca había visto" The translation also depends on the context.
