Is this going to be a good thing to learn Spanish?
I have this kid in my class who kinda speaks English and we have nobody in our class that can transalate back to him. So we have to talk to him slowly for him to understand us. And I just want to learn how to speak their language so that I can transalate back to him. Also I need to learn it really well because I have some family that speak spanish I would love to understand what they say especially my 2 year old cousin who speaks it and she is really good at it. I can understand what she says in english to because her mama and papa can speak english and spanish, but her uncles can not speak any english. So now you know why i need help. Also im 25% percent mexican. And everyboidy looks at me and says cant you speak the language nope.

You can do it Fred. You can be the one who learns enough Spanish to speak to and for your classmate. You 'll soon be exchanging word meanings, and he'll help you with Spanish even as you and your friends help him in English. This is what happened to me a long time ago when a young man from Cuba was sent to my school. He could barely speak a word of English. We became friends and helped each other with both languages. Go for it! Use the learning tools on this site, and we'll help you with any questions or problems you may have!
Fred, it will be an enlightening experience. You will not only learn about Spanish, you will learn more about English in the process. You will learn about other cultures and people. You will also be amazed at how much the language is used around you.
Congratulations on your decision to study Spanish. This will be a great resource for you in your study. Keep focused on the goal and never give up. As Joe said, you can do this.

If I can do it just about anybody can
There are many good reasons for learning an/several other language(s). Some of the reasons are practical e.g. more job opportunities/travel destinations and some are more "theoretical" e.g. understanding other cultures and how your/our culture fits in with them. To my mind, one of the best reasons is having friends/family with whom to communicate better. Not only is it a good reason but it also means that you already have people with whom to practice and who can help you to learn. This gives you a big advantage over those who want to learn a language but have very little opportunity to actually practice with anyone.
I can't imagine anything better. It's not that terribly difficult to get to the point where you can hold a conversation. And you have the best possible motivations - a desire to help a friend, wanting to communicate with family, and wanting to explore your heritage. Go for it, and in a big way.
