activated charcoal is an alternative treatment for traveller´s diareah. i need to know how to ask for it at a Mexican pharmacy.

"Carbón activado" should do it.

But you should have a travelers "kit" any way, see your doctor before you go traveling, and of course tell him where you are going. A few strong pain killers a few broad spectrum antibiotics,a few Valium (for resetting your biological clock) and good 'ol immodium and you will have enough to survive until you get home or to a doctor should the need arise.

Activated charcoal is what we give patients who overdose on medication, believe me it will cause diarrhea and vomiting, take kaopectate or lomotil. better yet see a travel doctor before you travel and learn how to prevent the tourista trots and what to do if you do get it.

If you are in the U.S. you can purchase Kaopectate tablets for traveling, and they should halt any intestinal disturbances.
