Where are the shopping streets in town?

To ask for the streets which are the best places to go shopping, can we say "the shopping streets in town"?

Are there any particular streets/areas that are good for shopping for hats, guns, food etc.

What we would say is 'Where's the mall?" Or is that only for cold countries?

In a large city like New York asking for a particular street (i.e. Madison Avenue or 5th Avenue) to go shopping may work. However, some people in New York may ask you what you would be shopping for. And then the answer could be a street or a neighborhood. In smaller towns people tend to shop at the mall instead of streets.
