Hello, according to dictionary own is propio. Can I translate this sentence " I learn spanish on my own" into spanish this way, " aprendo español en mi propio manera". Is this sentence correct? Thanks in advance. smile

You'd need to say propia, as manera is a feminine noun. It looks fine to me but I don't know how it 'sounds', I'm not fluent in espanish - afowen, Jan 19, 2011
Ah, I miss-read your question, I thought you were saying 'In my own way'. D'oh! - afowen, Jan 19, 2011

Ok, so I like qfreed's answer. However is the manner in which you're wanting to phrase it, I think the following might be a little more what you're looking for...

"He aprendido español en mi propio manera". - I've learned spanish in my own way.

or

"He aprendido español por mi propio cuenta". - I've learned spanish on my own account. (meaning on by yourself and on your own terms.)

Hope this helps. grin

´personalmente´ is not a good choice in this context. - mediterrunio, Jan 20, 2011
