I know we've gone over this a hundred times, but....... why is that "a mí" there, why is it needed? No me mires. No mires a mí. No me mires a mí. Just for extra accentuation? Gracias.

When I saw the sentence I imagined something like:

¡No me mires a mí! Yo no he hecho nada...

Well yes, Don't look at ME! it tells something like "Hey I'm the only one who hasn't done anything. If there is a guilty here, it's definitely not me..."

Yes, that's exactly what came to my mind, too. - alba3, Jan 18, 2011

The "a mí" is not needed except for extra emphasis. I think that the "me" is needed and that "No mires a mí" is not correct.
