struggle??

How would you say, he struggled.

For example, your brother struggled in the game yesterday?

Checking with my native speaking spouse, she told me that your phrase cannot be literally translated to spanish to have the same meaning.

I asked her to tell me the answer, she told me to go investigate it lazy boy!

Well the answer would appear to require a bit of constuction. I hope this comparative translation will help

I had to stuggle a lot to get ahead in my business.

He tenido que batallar mucho para sacar adelante mi negocio.

I used the verb ´´ batallar´´ which is to struggle but not to fight against somebody.

In México that verb would be used in that sense.

I checked 'Luchar' as well, but it said it means 'to fight'. I don't think that you'd need that level of 'struggle' in a game....it's not like a life threatening illness, where someone's fighting for their life. I don't know.....anyone please correct me - Seb79, Jan 17, 2011

In this case, "struggle" means to play poorly. You could say "pasar apuros". . .I would say something different involving valer, but I won't put it here

I think that 'forcejeó' for 'he struggled', would be OK....you'll have to get confirmation of that though.
