"El mal ajeno"

Hello Friends, I just watched the movie El mal ajeno with Eduardo Noriega and I'm curious about the title. Do you think the filmmakers wanted to express something like "The evil of others" or maybe "The bad (suffering) of others?" What do you think?

(The official English title is "For the Good of Others.")

Thanks for your thoughts!

By coincidence, my friend just taught me the expression, "No te rias del mal ajeno que el tuyo viene de camino."

I think that proper translation of the movie title is possible only after watching and understanding the movie... As I haven't seen the film yet, I can't have my say here....

I think the title works, precisely, with both concepts.

Ambiguity is a central figure in the art of writing. And translators are its favorite victims.
