O versus ó

Question

I was watching "Juventud por Cristo" on Enlace TBN this morning and they said this sentence, and then put it up in writing exactly as this:

Sólo el 10% de los padres practican ó hablan de lo que escucharon en la iglesia.

I can find no threads on this subject here, and on the web in general there seems to be agreement that "ó" replaces "o" only in writing when between numbers to prevent mistaking it for a zero.

Is this an error on their part, or is there some other reason they used "ó".

It's an error. The only reason to ó replaces o is between numbers.

Huh. I saw it on a Spanish news website between words. I have never seen the "ó" before. It's funny how it's not even proper Spanish and it's on a Spanish news site!

If memory serves, even that usage (between numbers) will no longer be approved by the RAE.
