I still have problems with é, á, ó, í, ú. What is the difference between two words with and without an accent.

An accent mark shows you what syllable to stress in a word. Normally, the next to last syllable is stressed and no accent mark is used. However, when the word is pronounced in an unusual manner we use accent marks. Example: delgado-the accent is in the usual place (ga) and no accent mark is used. Atlético-the accent is in the second syllable (lé), not the second from last (ti). An accent mark is also used to differentiate between words spelled the same. Example: esta=this, está=is. When the word "or" (o) is used between two numerals it has an accent (ó) to distinguish it from another numeral. Example: 2 o 3, vs. 2 ó 3 (two or three).
