As I wander around the house I often want to translate thoughts into Spanish, as I expect do many of us.

So this morning I'm looking at the mess in the 'cupboard-under-the-stairs/downstairs loo' and wondering how I'd describe that place/room.

My first attempt in English was pretty dire ie 'the place where we keep all the things that we don't know what to do with...' Yuk! but it's very likely that's what I'd say in casual speech!

So, somewhat more correct is the title sentence of this thread. "This is where we keep everything that doesn't have its proper place".

Is it somewhere near the mark or is it hilarious?!

Hi galsally!

... is correct and understandable, but I'd try to avoid the word almacenamiento in this colloquial context.

it´s correct Spanish, not hilarious but a bit awkward or redundant

are another possiblities.

According to the principles of Feng Shui, you shouldn't study Spanish near there.

- galsally, Jan 14, 2011
