When writing to a teenager in the DR, how do you say "You are very special to us"?

I agree with Dakie. Sometimes "especial" is used to mean "odd, different, hard-to get along-with, strange."

I don't know what is the "DR", but the literal translation of that phrase is "Eres muy especial para nosotros", although there is another phrase that I think suits better here and it is "Eres muy importante para nosotros"
