It's a good question, but I don't know the answer. It might take awhile for it to get a proper answer. I am watching the question, too, as I am curious myself. - webdunce, Jan 12, 2011

Yes, "tardies" is commonly used in the United States.

"Tardanzas" or "retrasos" are two ways I have heard in a school setting.

Tardies is a word. If you get three tardies, you might get a suspension, for example. A tardy is a recorded occurrence of your being late. - webdunce, Jan 12, 2011
It may a regionalism, but it is quite commonly used in schools for students and places of employment for employees here where I live. - webdunce, Jan 12, 2011
Yeah, here too. I got a tardy today :( - kiersten11, Jan 12, 2011
I would have said "tardinesses" (for me "tardy" is an adjective"). - samdie, Jan 13, 2011
