English natives need to help more. Please correct all those members who are not native English speakers
Hello my friends. When I look around the forum, and I have every day since I became a member, I notice that the Spanish natives are always correcting our mistakes. That is what makes this forum priceless. I have learned so much because of their wonderful help. It seems to me that our Spanish friends trying to learn English do not receive as much help from us, the English natives. I do not see many corrections for them like they do for us. Is that a poor observation on my part or do you agree? I think we need to step it up and be more of a help to the English learners. Everyone on this site are just incredible. I want to thank all of you for the honor to learn such a beautiful language.
Please have a look at this thread!! Thanks

Forgive me for injecting a slight jocular note , but I have just realised that I
rarely get requests for help in English , I guess that being an Australian they think
that my English may be a bit too colloquial,I have noticed that while speaking to
Yeser007 ,Sandy and Marianne they are left scratching their heads at my accent .
But may I assure you that I do have a modicum of knowledge in the English
language, Oh dear, I can hear Q , Lazarus and KevinB Chomping at the bit,
English," Champing" but we don't champ we chomp, Champ ! Therefore please
do not dismiss my feeble efforts ,you may even learn a few phrases or three.
I am willing if not always able.
HI marshal, I have asked for this several times...I wish English natives did offer more corrections!!
Poorly written and spoken English bugs me when I hear it from English speakers but since most people in every day life don't really want to be corrected I try to keep my mouth shut. Having permission to correct people here is a relief. I try to make corrections when I see them. It seems to me that most Spanish speakers on SD do better than the typical person I hear on the street.
I help whenever I can, and would be quite happy to receive a PM if you need extra help.
la puerta chirriante obtiene el aceite de.
I was corrected on many occasions, either in comments, being edited and even by PM.
I'm very thankful to all of you for having taken your time in doing your suggestions and corrections (I don't dare to say the names of every one because I probably would forget some of them) In this thread there are several people who can feel alluded.
I can not emphasize enough how much I do appreciate them. They have helped me a lot!
I wonder if perceptions are distorted, since the Spanish students probably make more mistakes than the English students.
My impression is that the native English speakers actually make more mistakes in English than do the Spanish speakers. Furthermore, among the "mistakes" that Spanish speakers make, often they are not really mistakes at all but, simply, a failure to use a more idiomatic/common phrase.
I've stepped up my corrections since the thread on this subject a few months ago. I wonder if perceptions are distorted, since the Spanish students probably make more mistakes than the English students...
I also noticed that half of my English corrections are for native English members who post sloppy and "text" styled messages - Yuk!!
Great post MarshallAmps! You have hit the nail on the head. (Spanish speakers, note the idiom)!
Hit the nail on the head. =Ha acertado!
I try to correct the posts that I see. If you have a specific question about English and it isn't being answered here, please PM me.
Good point!! However, I've got to admit that I've been corrected by English speakng SD members a couple of times, such as Lorenzo or Izanoni for example. But there is no doubt about the fact that Hispanoablantes are way more active in this field here. Anybody needs help with Polish by any chance?
I completely agree with you....I feel that these wonderful Spanish speaking people have helped me a lot, and to be honest, I haven't done much to help them. But, from now on, hopefully I will help those who wish to improve their English.
Everyone on this site is
just incredible.
